

2025 Ryan Raider Coaching Staff


In his twelth year as Head Coach at Ryan he has helped lead the Raiders to six undefeated regular seasons, seven District Championships, a class 6A State Quarterfinal appearance, a class 5A State Quarterfinal appearance, four class 5A State Semifinal appearances, a class 5A State Finals appearance, a class 5A State Championship in 2020, an 116-13 record the last nine years, Coach Henigan was named the 5-6A Coach of the Year in 2015 after Ryan went 13-1.
He was named the 5-5A Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2017, and the 4-5A Coach of the Year in 2018 after leading the Raiders to 14-1 records in all three of those years. He was also named the 4-5A Coach of the Year and the Dallas Morning News Coach of the Year in 2019 after leading the Raiders to a 15-1 record and the 5A State Title game. In 2020, he was named the 5-5A Coach of the Year, Tom Landry Coach of the Year, TSWA Class 5A Coach of the Year, and the National Football Foundation of Dallas Coach of the Year. As Offensive Coordinator at Denton Ryan, he helped lead the Raiders to a state title in 2002 and a state runner-up in 2003.
Family: Wife – Laurie; Sons – Ian (Ryan Class of 2019), Seth (Ryan Class of 2021 and a football state champion in 2020), and Quin (Senior this year)

Will Cockerill is beginning his 3rd year at Ryan. He is entering his 19th year coaching and 16th teaching. He has had previous stops at Allen, Brandeis, Carrizo Springs, Refugio and Medina Valley High School. Coach Cockerill played wide receiver at Howard Payne University for a season before transitioning into a student-assistant role where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Later earning his Master’s Degree from Lamar University. Coach Cockerill has been a part of 2 State Finalist and 5 State Quarter-Finalist Teams in his career.
Coach Cockerill is married to Gloria and they have 5 children. Will (Who is a Senior this year), Kaitlin (A Sophmore) , Kylie, Clay and Cole.

Coach Galyon is in his 11th straight year on the Ryan coaching staff. This is his 23rd year overall coaching football. He also coached at North Crowley and Coppell.
Pat and his wife Emily have two girls: Reyna and Bodie

Coach Lane is a proud Dentonite (DHS grad 1993) and is in his 3rd year as a coach at Ryan where he actually did his student teaching. He has 15 years coaching experience and 26 years teaching experience, all in Denton I.S.D. He started his career at Calhoun Middle School in 1999 with stops at Denton High School and Strickland Middle School before coming to Ryan. He attended The University of North Texas.
Coach Lane has been married for 26 years to his wife Frankie. He has two daughters, Sofia who graduated from Ryan last year and Nina who is a Sophmore.

Coach Bull is in his 12th year on the coaching staff at Ryan High. He has 26 years experience as a football coach. Coach Bull attended Oklahoma State University.
Jordan and his wife Christy have 2 children: Kadyn & Rylan.

Lawrence Williams is starting his 4th year on staff at Ryan HS, and his 14th year coaching. Coach Williams spent the previous 7 years at Melissa HS. He played football at West Texas A&M, and later finished his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
In May of 2022, Coach Williams completed his Masters degree in Educational Administration at Grand Canyon University. Lawrence and his wife Tammy have 3 children.

Reed Ryan is starting his 4th year at Ryan HS, and 11th year coaching. Coach Ryan spent the last 8 years at Prosper HS. He graduated from Texas A&M in 2014 as a member of the Corps of Cadets, Company E-1.
Coach Ryan and his wife Taylor have one son, River who was born in December of 2020.

This will be Coach Newberry’s 7th year on the Ryan staff. Before beginning his coaching career, Coach Newberry played and graduated Ryan High in 2004, winning 2 state titles. Coach Newberry went on to play at the University of Hawaii earning first team All WAC defensive back and first team all academic from 2006-2008.

This will be Coach (Lub) Jones 5th year on the Ryan staff coaching Wide Receivers. Before beginning his coaching career, Coach Jones played and graduated Ryan High in 2003, appearing in 3 state title games, winning 2 state titles. Coach Jones attended The University of Oklahoma State in 2003 before a leg injury took him off the field. Coach Jones graduated from TWU in 2020 receiving a degree in Sociology.

​Phillip has 3 sons: Amari, Ameer and Jaleel.

Daniel McLemore is starting his 5th year at Ryan on staff and 12th year coaching. Coach McLemore had spent 5 years at Irving HS. Graduated from Oklahoma State with bachelors in Kinesiology where he lettered 4 years in football and track earning All Big 12 in both sports 2004 and 2005.
Daniel and his wife Kemah have 1 son Dante and are expecting a baby girl come October!

Coach Langston is in his 2nd year as a coach at Ryan. He played for and graduated from Ryan High in 2018 as a 1st team All-district Center. This is his 6th year coaching football while making stops at UNT, Kelly Catholic High School, and Hardin Jefferson High School.

Coach Head has coached at Ryan High for 21 years and has 24 years of coaching experience. He is also the boys’ head track coach. Coach Head attended Texas Tech University.
Janson and his wife Stacy have 4 children: Kelsey, Kailyn, Kyleigh and Kambree, all except Kambree have graduated or are currently attending Ryan.

Coach Thomas is on year 3 of coaching and year 5 of being in education. This will be his first year on the Ryan football staff. He had previously coached the Ryan boys basketball team as well as girls track last year. He got his start at Ryan feeder, Bette Myers middle school coaching football and basketball.
He graduated from Irving high school in 2015, later going to to West Texas A&M, graduating with a Bachelors in Journalism in 2021.

Coach Logan is starting his 1st year here at Ryan, He has 17 years of coaching experience with stops at McMath Middle School, Denton High, Coppell, and Princeton (as a Defensive Coordinator). Coach Logan attended and played football at Alcorn State University where he was a standout linebacker for the Braves.
Omega and his wife Jasmin have 3 children: Jael, Omega, and Joy. Two of them are currently at Ryan, Jael who is a Junior and Omega who is a Freshman.

Coach Barrera is entering his first offical year at Ryan High School after being a long-term sub here last year. He played and graduated from Ryan in 2019. This will be 2nd year coaching after joining the staff last year. He earned a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from UNT in 2023 making the Dean's List, where he also was a walk-on for a year as well.

He and his wife Haley are high school sweethearts and got married in March of 2024.

Coach Fox is entering into his first year here at Ryan. He brings 13 years of coaching experince mainly in California but was previously at Bette Myers Middle School. He attented California State University and San Bernadino earning a Bachelors in Administration. He later earned his Masters in Special Education with a Prelimnary Education Specalist credential at National University.

Coach Fox and his wife Shanae have two sons: Franklin IV (12) and Brycen (9).

Coach Leidner is in his 14th season as a trainer at Ryan High. He spent 1 year prior as the Head Athletic Trainer at Whitesboro High. Coach Leidner attended Hardin-Simmons University. He then received his Masters of Athletic Training from Texas Tech University.
Ronnie and his wife Christen have two daughters , Rhyan and Gentry and one son, Griffin.

Coach Volentine is starting her 5th year at Ryan and 8th year as an Athletic Trainer. She spent 2 years at Ennis High School and 1 year at UTSA as an Athletic Trainer. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science for The University of Texas at San Antonio and Masters in Athletic Training from The University of Houston.
Coach and her Husband, Justin Volentine, and their son Christopher reside in Denton.
